Rainlendar Lite v2.11.1

Checker on 10 Mar 2013

Rainlendar is a skinnable, easy-to-use calendar that resides on your desktop and shows the days of the current month. You can add events and tasks with customizable icons and formats to the calendar and be reminded when they occur. Rainlendar uses the standard iCalendar format to store its events and tasks so you can easily transfer them between applications.

Cross-platform (Windows, Linux, OS X).

Note: Rainlendar Lite is the freeware version of Rainlendar Pro (Payware). The lite version is missing network shared calendars, Outlook support and other features.

Category:
System Requirements: Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes

How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and extract using 7-zip to a folder of your choice
  2. Move all folders located in the $_OUTDIR folder to the main application folder
  3. Delete $PLUGINSDIR and $_OUTDIR folders
  4. Create an empty text file and name it Rainlendar2.ini
  5. Launch Rainlendar2.exe.
What's new?
  • Fixed a crash bug if another instance of Rainlendar was started.
  • "Number of past days the list shows" was not working.
  • Reversing the sorting from the event list's context menu could not be done.
  • The font effects did not work for custom categories.
  • The tool buttons in the manager adjust to the text width.
  • It was not possible to remove calendar selection on Mac if "Allow multiple calendars" was enabled.
  • Exporting the events in the manager only worked if the list had selection. Now all events are exported if there is no selection.
  • The autocompletion works again in the category combobox.
  • The traytip does not gain focus anymore when it is shown.
  • Double click on the week or day view always created an all day event.
  • The reminders were not read correctly from iCloud with CalDAV.
  • The status image was not shown in the tray icon on Windows and Mac.
  • Executing lua from command line failed on Linux and Mac.
  • Creating a exception to a event in week view by dragging deleted the original event from Google calendar.
  • Writing events with no duration to iCloud failed.
  • Completing an alarm for non-recurring task in the alarm window did not dismiss it.
  • Removed hard dependency to the gnome-keyring library on Linux.
  • Backup opened incorrect file dialog in Linux.
  • The value for "Poll for changes"-setting in Toodledo was not read correctly.

I can't used the translation in the portable version. How can I do it?

The source code of the old version can be obtained here: http://ipi.fi/~rainy/legacy.html

If you look for the old version of Rainlender (v0.22.1) you can get the "pro" features for free (i.e. Outlook, iCalender, etc). The functionality is still the same.

Just amazing interface - very customizable and beautiful; smooth and intelligently designed. Compatible with the ICS open calendar format that so many other programs use (iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, Google Calendar, etc).

Negatively, the program can be occasionally wonky (getting 3 months to display at once takes some work). But a terrific program -- use it daily.

if u use google calendar in rainlendar, do not upgrade to V 2.3 as google calendar is only available in the pro version of rainlendar

Webfork 2008-01-19 23:57

To upgrade:

1. Exit program if you haven't.
2. Install as instructed above to a temporary folder.
3. Move all files to your current Rainlendar directory except for "rainlendar2.ini". Start program.

Lite version has a 'portable' installation mode.

Easily the most eye-pleasing calendar out there. Very cool to look at and just as great to use.

As mentioned by webfork in the forums, unfortunately Rainlendar Lite 2.5 seems to be missing the portable option at installation. I don't know yet whether it can still be used portably or not. Version 2.4 still has the portable install, though.

Now that there's no "Portable" option, there's still a method: just install as normal to any directory. Create an empty text file and name it "Rainlendar2.ini" where settings will be saved to. You're all set.

Still use this program daily for over a year.
