[Anonymous] MichaelOne of my two or three favorite programs of all time. Love this app so much I donated to the author. I searched far and wide for a stickies app that had all the features I wanted and the 5.2b version had all but one. Then he put out v6 and it has that plus more. [2007-03-13 07:06]

[Anonymous] ChrisJust started using this for fun and was blown away with it's usefulness, all the options, ease of use, etc. Simply awesome! [2007-03-18 11:52]

[Anonymous] RedbeardGreat program! One note though, in order to run it as portable (and not create a stickies folder in your Documents and Settings\Application Data folder) you need to set the working directory to the install directory directory when you run it. You can see what I mean here: http://tomrevell.conforums.com/index.cgi?board=gensupport&action=display&num=1172276229 [2007-03-28 03:02]

[Anonymous] RoysonOne of the best freeware that i have found on the web. Thanks to Tom Revell and http://portablefreeware.com/

[Anonymous] BillyBobI've tried just about every other sticky notes program I have seen, and there is nothing that comes close to Stickies for features and ease of use. [2007-07-06 10:10]

[Anonymous] PatmanSearch no further, this is THE best sticky note program you will find. Been using it as portable for over a year, never lost a note, never had a single problem. And if you accidentally delete an important note...or say your child...or wife does, no problem, it saves like 500 notes. Love it. [2008-04-10 21:43]

[Anonymous] Sundance KidStickies will associate itself with .sti & .ssk files unless you tell it not to. To do this, uncheck the box on the General tab in the Options dialog box [2008-09-07 19:49]

[Anonymous] Author fillJust signed in to this delicious site,i haven't even got my stickies yet but it sure sounds like something great. [2008-09-08 11:57]

[Anonymous] Portable PaulOnly program CLOSE to this is the commercial NoteZilla. Really can't beat this program. [2009-03-31 14:33]

[Anonymous] IanFromBarrieNew graphics stickies make this even more useful. [2009-10-19 17:24]

[Anonymous] GrumpWorked fine on Xp laptop, but failed on both 98SE
machines tested on with error message "Unable to
initialize DAO/Jet db engine". Main fix I found end
user could do(see http://tinyurl.com/yh6xjcy)uses
registry change and is aimed at Xp. Based on this, it
fails both portability and 98SE functionality for me.

[Anonymous] mindstalkergreat program, fully skinnable, much better and flexible than PNotes [2009-10-22 18:19]

[Anonymous] WalterI agree that's a great program.
BUT, the fact that there isn't a zip version to download makes it cumbersome to upgrade.
For example, I installed 7.00 a few days ago, now I have to install 7.00a and its all over again install/uninstall/et c.

(For that reason alone, I'd use PNotes, but I can't figure out how to display all notes with a single click!)

[Anonymous] WalterI correct myself. You CAN easily upgrade from a previous version. I've just upgraded to 7.0a like this:

stickies_setup_7.0a.exe -extract

This will extract the files into the current folder. Just overwrite the old ones, and the version will be updated.

Btw, the correct way to make this application portable (if not upgrading) is described here:

http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/support/kb.pl?q=00002

I'd prefer a simple zip file instead of all these steps, but now that I can upgrade, I'm more than happy.

[Anonymous] PR1MESweet program, but it is NOT portable. It stores its info in the Applications Data folder, it stores PreFetch settings, and all kind of stuff. All on C drive. It's dependent on those things, and there seems to be no way to break the dependencies. [2010-02-24 06:46]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
