FileMenu Tools customizes the context menu of Explorer, adding built-in utilities for file and folder operations. Users can add customized commands that run external applications, copy/move to a specific folder or delete specific file types; customize the "Send to..." submenu; and enable/disable the commands which are added by other applications to the context menu.

The built-in utilities allow the user to run a given program with arguments, copy/move to a folder, copy path, UNC path, Internet path, name or content to clipboard, view or change attributes, split/join a file, register/unregister a DLL, find and replace, advanced rename, synchronize two folders, delete locked files, create symbolic link, calculate and verify SHA/MD5 checksums, shred files, change folders icon, and many more.

Supports 32 or 64-bit automatically.

Category:
System Requirements: Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies: Administrator rights (to register and unregister the shell extension)
Stealth: ? No. Windows settings are saved to the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LopeSoft.
Unicode support: Partial. The configuration tool handles Unicode text properly, but this text is displayed only partially correct in the context menu.
Path portability: Requires manual entry of relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)
License: Freeware (Donations accepted)
How to extract:
  1. Download the self-extracting EXE to a folder of your choice
  2. To use the program, launch Register FileMenuTools.exe to register the shell extension
  3. Right-click on an item in the Explorer to see the menu
Optionally:
  • To remove the program, launch Unregister FileMenuTools.exe
  • To configure, launch FileMenuTools.exe to or choose Configure FileMenu Tools from the menu.
What's new?
  • The languages can be downloaded or updated from the application. You now do not need to go to website to download your language and install it manually.
  • Command Line From Here: this command will be run as administrator if either the key CTRL or the key SHIFT are pressed.
  • Attributes: added a new option to show/hide the file extensions.
  • Size of Folders: now takes into account the hard links and therefore calculates correctly the real size in disk when a file has several hard links referenced into the folder or subfolders.
  • Fixed bug in Change Time: does not read correctly the time of folders.
Improvements in custom commands:
  • You can create a copy of the custom commands or a complete submenu.
  • Now you can specify relative paths for the executable files. If the full path is not specified, then the file is searched into the folders in PATH environment variable.
  • The variable @OPENFILE@ lets you now select several files.
  • The variables @OPENFILE@ and @SAVEFILE@ can be configured to specify the file types displayed in the dialog box.
Improvements in Advanced Renamer:
  • Now the preview is updated automatically and is more efficient than in previous versions.
  • Added new variables to insert into the file name: %COMPUTERNAME% / %USERNAME% / %FOLDERNAME%
  • Added two new conversion types: Encode to URL format. The special characters will be converted to %XX / Decode from URL format. The special characters will be decoded from the form %XX

This is not portable or stealth.

V6.1.1

@Napiophelios: I agree that it is not stealth, but could you explain why you do not consider it portable?

V6.1.1

I registered using the provided register.exe file, then opened the app.
I closed the app and then unregistered like the description says.
I then moved it to another partition and got an error message:

It stands to reason one would be able to move the app from one spot to another without an error message...hence a portable.
Dont get me wrong,I would love to see a proper portable of FMTools,I love the application.I just dont see the point in using this launcher in its current form.
All its really doing is preserving your settings, which can already be done via the gui.
This launcher is really just an open version of the installer.I think whoever wrote the NSIS script just needs to tweak the script a little, its kinda going the wrong direction.
Instead of preserving where the app was last run from; it should be procuring its current position when you open it and passing that info onto the launcher like other PortableApps.com launchers do.

Also, the register and unregister exe files are pointless.
The NSIS launcher should register automatically when opened and unregister automatically when closed.
I know for fact NSIS scripts are capable of such functions.

"How damn hard would it be to" click the Website link if checking "what options are available by this program" is what you want?

V6.2

The current link, http://www.lopesoft.com/fmtools/FileMenuTools_6.2.0.0.paf.exe gets a "not found" and is for an earlier version. Version 6.3 is at http://www.lopesoft.com/fmtools/FileMenuToolsPortable-setup.exe

V6.3

I've got this installed and I was a hairsbreadth away from uninstalling it because of the update process from 6.2 to 6.3.

Its updater first tried to trick me into installing a toolbar I don't want. I avoided that and it tried a second time with a different toolbar which I also avoided. If there had been a third, I would have gotten rid of this software completely - I almost kicked it out when the 2nd toolbar installation attempt appeared, but the software is just about useful enough to survive 2 toolbar installation attempts.
