Synopsis: Abilon is a RSS feeds aggregator. You can store interesting items in memories for later retrieval. In addition, you can set archival options for each feed so that recent items are retained even when they are removed from the feed. This is very useful for catching up on news after a long vacation.

Note from P J: You can make Abilon support enclosures by editing the file "rssitem.templ" in the "Themes" folder and append "<<RSSITEM.ENCLOSURES>>" at the end of the file (no quotes). Then restart Abilon and it will display links to the enclosures at the bottom of each feed message.

Writes settings to: Application folder
How to extract: Download the installer and install to the default folder C:\Program Files\Abilon. Then copy all files (except Uninstall.exe) into a folder of your choice. Finally, uninstall the program. Create an empty subfolder called UserData in the application folder so that settings will be written locally instead of the user profile folder. Launch the program by double-clicking on Abilon.exe.
Unicode support: No
License: Freeware
System Requirements: Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP

[Anonymous] Andrew LeeSeems like someone forgot to renew his domain! I have added a direct download link for this app. [2006-03-27 22:14]

[Anonymous] FriedGeekIt also looks like this download has been 'portablized' already. Sweet. [2006-07-11 06:28]

[Anonymous] JoelDoesn't show Latin words like: á é ú ã â, etc... [2008-02-17 14:59]

[Anonymous] andreaquite heavy and uncomfortable in managing feeds if you consider it is a dedicated app ......portable Opera, despite of the heaviness (...naturally due to its being a multipurpose program) is much more manageable... [2008-02-26 03:23]

[Anonymous] jbtingno unicode support is a serious deal breaker for me.. [2009-12-13 21:57]

All HTML tags will be removed from your comment. URLs (http, https, ftp) will be automatically detected and hyperlinked. I reserve the right to delete irrelevant, frivolous or offensive comments. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
