Watch 4 Folder is a simple, lightweight tool for monitoring folder and file activities. The program can monitor 12 different types of events, execute a program or batch file, or show a pop-up message in case of an event. The program can also write to a text log file and allow the user to watch it's changes live.
The free version is limited to monitoring a single folder.

v2.5

v2.5
This is not the last version of Watch 4 Folder, the last version is 2.5, you can get it from LeeLu Soft blog.
v2.3
the app crashes when it sends me a desktop alert. windows xp sp3.
Would be a great application if it would be readable on my OS-Colorscheme (yes, i cannot read most of its GUI). It as so many applications changes background colors without changing foreground colors. In this case, backgrounds are changed to bright blue. The result in my case is light grey FG on bright blue BG. Note to software devs: If there isn't a good reason to mess with custom colors, just don't do it. In the case of this app, there is no reason for the custom bg-colors.
I forgot to add --- Watch 4 Folder now allows saving different sets of parameters into multiple INI files, so in effect you can create "profiles" for various tasks and environments. Kewl!
I've been trying this out, and works pretty nicely.
This tool may be unique, I did some googling and found no other *free*ware that lets you assign a program or batch file to run when triggered by the monitored events. (I think this feature should be EMPHASIZED in the description.)
RAM usage is high during configuration, climbing to approx 16 mb, but minimize to the taskbar to drop it down to 2.5 ~ 5.5 mb. It could be good to use to automatically sort and move files (such as DropIt), to move and compress files, or to keep folders sychronized. I'm wishing for the author to add support to accept assigned application's commandline parameters, but it is a very nice tool just as it is.
