DriveSort shows you an entire drive or a selected sub-folder by what are usually the most important criteria: the largest and newest files. For speed and simplicity, DriveSort displays only the top 100 files that match your sort criterion.

Most disk space tools show only folder sizes until you "zoom in"; DriveSort is a shortcut to show which specific files are usually of greatest interest.

I recommend using Everything (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1479) instead and organize results by date. This program runs a little faster than Everything's initial drive search and then sort, but solves the issue of not being able to resize the DriveSort the window, not being able to change the top files to 50 or 200, or the ability to update automatically with new file changes.

Not to be confused with this program with the same name:

"DriveSort sorts the directory tables of a volume formated in FAT12/FAT16/FAT32. This sort orders the files in each folder according to their short or long names alphabetic order.

The majority of recent operating systems sort the files before showing them to the user, either by name, by size or by whatever the user choose. However, it is not always the case in embedded OSes on small portable devices like MP3 players. On these platforms, the lack of resources (CPU, memory) can lead the developper to make it display or play the files in the order in which they are on the disk."

I'm not sure if it's portable.

Right-click on a file to open its location, or the file itself.

Small window to read the results, the path of the location of the found files is shown part such as C:\users\name\Appadat
Clicking on it do not open the location, too bad is no more developped, otherwise portable and handy

On my 2003-server DriveSort does not sort by date of the file itself, but the folder of where the file is - so i cant find the newest files with this tool. Useless for me, sorry....
