WordWeb is a one-click English thesaurus and dictionary that can look up words in almost any program. It works off-line, but can also look up words in web references such as the Wikipedia. It includes full dictionary and thesaurus for the various English variants including American, British, Canadian, Australian, Indian, and global.
Note: Main site is linking to Download.com so I'm listing Softpedia as the download link.

"Free for people who do not take more than one return flight in any 12 month period"
I never got to understand this insanity : even taking the word for it, how in the world am I to demonstrate that I have no more than one flight ticket in my archives ?! :=)
I'm sticking with version 5.0, which doesn't stop after a year. This is fake frewware.
You can also hear many pronunciations directly with very high quality in natural voice if you install some sound files. For details see http://wordweb.info/users/sound.html
Anybody know where I can get a copy of the version 5 that commenter Transcontinental mentions?
My understanding of the licensing agreement is that it's based on the honor system.
It doesn't "stop after a year", or thirty days, or ever.
The author states that "you must uninstall the program" after thirty days if you don't meet the qualifications. The licensing terms that Transcontinental referred to applied to WordWeb 5.x, but seem to apply to the latest version as well.

Snidely - Thanks, good to know! It's a great piece of software.... Especially at this price!
The license is innovative and intelligent! I really appreciated such an initiative. We all are traveling in the same boat called Earth, and we all must develop a serious commitment to our own benefit. Kudos for the intelligence behind the license agreement!
Could someone please explain to someone else who has never set eyes on the license agreement, what it is? What's that about a "return trip in 12 months?" Lawdy, I hope it doesn't mean I could only use the thing once a year for free. What is "innovative and intelligent" about the license agreement? Is this freeware or isn't it?
I had wordweb myself for several months, until one day I opened it and there was a dialog box asking me about my travel plans (as apparently is in the licensing agreement). I gave the 'wrong answer' and the program stopped letting me run it. I uninstalled it.
The download link leads goes to Cnet which bundles the app with crapware. Here's the alternative instructions to make WordWeb portable:
1) Downloasd the app from Majorgeek:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/WordWeb_d5237.html
2) Extract the installer with 7-zip
3) Delete uninst.exe and rename wweb32new.dll to wweb32.dll
4) Create a blank file, settings.ini
5) Launch wweb32.exe.
V6.6
@stwum: I've switched the download link to point to MajorGeeks.
V6.6
After having tried the MajorGeeks website several times trying to get the latest version of WordWeb 6.7 I have given up. They only seem to have earlier versions on their servers. I recommend going directly to the author's website:
http://wordweb.info/free/
and download the current version (6.71). That version installed itself in my Portable Apps manager without any problems. I have used both the paid and free versions for many years and really love this program, but have never experienced any of the questions regarding my travel plans.
V6.7
I'm using WordWeb since long time ago, now I have the Pro version. Indeed WordWeb is one of the best english thesaurus and dictionary for Windows
