Khuidez: The BEST So far, performance and memory usage based. Bar NONE. and I have tried ALL of them.
Keep up the VERY VERY good work and keep improving it. I'm folowing it very closely. [2008-07-20 10:12]
wim: very fast and slim indeed
Will be a package to monitor how it evolves.
- no support yet for japanese text
- not all feeds correctly shown (images) but can be feeds themselves [2008-07-23 00:14]
Roz: So far, the best portable RSS for a flash drive. Simple, easy, clean, small. [2008-07-24 13:06]
Slime Portable: very small and light weight!
awesome! [2008-07-24 21:48]
Lare2: Great app. But i would like for it to give the choice open the links on Firefox. I have setup Firefox as my default browser in windows but this app insists in opening the links in Internet Explorer.
That needs to be addressed since more and more people are moving to alternative browsers. [2008-07-28 06:34]
Kuikui: what you need to be precise for the author about this, is that it opens the "RSS FEEDS" in I.E
meaning when you click the feed item once, it displays the content in I.E in the bottom.
BUT, when you double click it, it opens it in firefox or any default browser you have setup.
what needs to be changed is the first part.
ALSO, we need to have some sort of "memmory" for the feeds, i.e : remove anything older than 3 days, or remove anything over 200 feeds.
because for now, it only displays the feeds that it gets and doesn't save the rest (even if unread) [2008-08-04 02:41]
Marius Loots: I have a problem in that it does not save newly added feeds until after you exit completely. Lost a number of added feeds after a machine rebooted on me. [2009-03-30 03:28]
nimrod: 2 major problems!
1. uses way to much memory, a whopping 9MB!!!
2. doesnt save feeds unless you exit!
apart from that i love it, until something better comes along :) [2009-04-02 04:07]
nimrod: one problem has been fixed in v 1.3.7.1 the feeds are now saved before shutdown [2009-04-02 04:13]
BillyBob: Maybe I'm missing something very simple and obvious - I can't find a way to create groups/folders to group feeds. I know it is possible, because the screenshot here on portablefreeware shows it, I just can't find it. How do you create folder/groups?
As to Nimrod's comment of "a whopping 9Mb" - NFReader uses 7.4Mb of my memory, Great News uses 16Mb, and Abilon (voted most popular here) uses 35+Mb. I'd say NFReader is very modest by contrast! [2009-04-03 06:17]
BillyBob: Ignore my question - I found how to create a folder. You need to right click the Feeds icon in the left panel, then select Add new folder. If anything else is elected when you right click, the add new folder item is grayed out. You can also create folders within a folder.
I was looking for a menu option to create folders but there is none. [2009-04-03 10:48]
vhick: i like this software alot. but there is one thing that very annoying. i cant delete the article one by one. any suggetions?
thanks... [2009-04-16 15:57]
[r4]: Just to inform you -- it can be easily run under Windows 98 SE. Maybe it's worth adding here for people like me, who still use it? [2009-11-20 06:11]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
