TagScanner is a multifunction program for organizing and managing your music collection. It can edit tags of most audio formats, rename files based on the tag information, generate tag information from filenames, and perform any transformations of the text from tags and filenames. Album info available via online databases like freedb or Amazon and includes a built-in player.
Supports ID3v1, ID3v2, Vorbis comments, APEv2, WindowsMedia and MP4 (iTunes) tags. Includes powerful TAG editor with batch functions and special features and a playlist maker with ability to export playlists to HTML or Excel.

It is a great program indeed. The only downside i found is that its so easy to accidentally change a tag.
I wont put it on the same category as mp3tag with all the scripting capabilities of it. But it's definitely a great app.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Small, fast, portable, and effective. Never having used a tag editor I figured it out in minutes. Finally I am able to keep my albums in an orderly fashion on my MP3 player with the titles I want. I don't need anything more than TagScanner. Thanks.

The download button gives you the 524 version, but jou can download the 525 version. Go to the website under tab download (direct link: http://www.xdlab.ru/en/download.htm)

I was this close from changing from Tag&Rename to this one, but the lack of masking in the "file to tag" tab put me off...

Hey, I update wma file from amazon database.It show result and not actually change the tag.

Works with MP3s and Ogg Vorbis files. I can't say I love the interface, but the functionality is great.

This is a great tool. Diamond heart, you have to actually have to click on save for the the changes to be saved. Very simple to user and works perfectly with all my MP3 & WMA Files.

It goofed up for me, put everything in another music group subfolder. Not even sure if it renamed anything. Maybe it worked, i gave up on it.

I didn't replace Tag&Rename, but this one is going everywhere with me. :)

V5.1.592 not working under Win2000. Give's error when starting. Please remove compatibility with W2K.

This looks like great software - I'd love to use it.
Trouble is t hat version 597 comes up with an "Invalid Code Page" error message immediately on loading and has to be closed.
Running under XP SP3. Tried 2 downloads to check for corruption with same result.

I once suggested to TagScanner's author that while his app could easily be made portable, he would gain exporsure by making it available without an installer.
This is one great utility, and one of my essential audio file management tools that I use ever since I started doing digital music. Recomended!
