I've never warmed to the idea of a third party uninstaller.

I've tried a few in the past and was simply not impressed. Revo is pretty cool though. It uses the default uninstaller for the unwanted application then runs deeper scans to find other traces. It also provides clear and detailed information about the scan results and gives the user control of what to do with the remaining traces.

The other features are an added bonus.

Looks like a good app, however, on my system it creates a folder in User/AppData. The folder is named "VSRevoGroup", and it contains some subfolders, all of them empty.

The key advantage of Revo is its "deep scan" to remove all traces of a program. Great for software that never quite uninstalls, such as almost any AOL software. This doesn't just recover space -- removing excess items from Windows' registry can also speed up your computer.

Hunter Mode is confusing until you move the transparent cross-hair icon over a window, minimized program, or tray icon and let go. A WEALTH of options become available that quickly and easily demystify and disengage unknown programs and windows.

Although this software cannot do multiple, simultaneous uninstalls like "Free Uninstaller," Revo is still a far better uninstall tool than any I've yet seen.

Good program with lots of options. Does the job and does it well. Thumbs Up!

Welp, if it can remove all traces of AOL it must be good. How about Roxio and Adobe Reader? I manually tried to clean my registry of Roxio and stopped at around 50 entries.

I love this uninstaller, if you install a lot of different apps regularly this will take care of the leftover junk that application uninstallers "accidentally" leave behind. Its been version 1.60 for a while though, maybe just updated @ this site?

I notice that this program has a hard time uninstalling Java Runtime 6. It runs the installer to modify the program instead of the uninstaller to get rid of it. I tried a few other programs like this and they all had the same problem. The only one I found that did the Java uninstall correctly is the uninstaller in Ccleaner.

Definitely the best uninstaller I've come across.
Because of the deep scan you can even uninstall programs with corrupt uninstallers or no uninstallers at all.

This is one of the best programs I have found. I use it at home and at work. I love its Junk Files Cleaner which has freed up tons of disk space!

This program saved my buns. I somehow managed to screw up a Pidgin uninstall (using WinXP's standard uninstaller), so that any attempt at a clean reinstallation was thwarted. Revo Uninstaller was able to clean up all the gunk left behind by Pidgin, so I could do a clean reinstall. Thanks to Revo Uninstaller, I was able to get rid of the Pidgin droppings!

Revo Uninstaller (now Revo Uninstaller Pro) is not free anymore. However, I just downloaded 1.85 from Softpedia. Before I was using 1.83.

CodesAway 2009-12-23 02:35

@Sam, there has always been a pro version, as well as the free version. I just downloaded 1.85 free using the above link (download's directly from revo's website).

The best uninstall program on the site and light years ahead of Windows' own uninstaller. Very useful for people who want to test non-portable software and then remove it fully without any registry cruft to slow down their machine. Easily in my top 5 Windows apps.

Incredibly useful - i used to spend hours going through the reg. searching for *string* in order to completely uninstal. This prg gets everything out.

Why have separate links for 32 and 64 bit when both point at the same target?

v2.0.0

joby_toss 2016-08-06 07:01

So people would know this build is compatible with both systems (the downloaded file contains both versions).

v2.0.0

Midas 2016-08-06 12:08

@ahaider7: moreover, why not? Didn't you get what you needed?

I like and use Revo Uninstaller Free: I don't like "A Pro version is available with more features." in the description above.
This is The Portable FREEWARE Collection: why promote a commercial product?
