[Anonymous] PETRASDitto claims to write settings to Application folder however it also writes to the Registry...! Doesn't this fact disqualify the application as "Portable"? [2007-09-26 15:00]

[Anonymous] Andrew LeeI have checked again, and Ditto does write settings to "Ditto.Settings" in the application folder. Did you download the "Portable" ZIP version or the installer? [2007-09-26 15:52]

[Anonymous] PETRASI believe I downloaded the correct "portable" version as follows: "Ditto_Portable_3_15_1_0.zip"
I did a "find" in regedit & noted many references to Ditto...!

[Anonymous] Andrew LeeCould it be from a previous installation? Try deleting those reg entries and run the portable version again to check. [2007-10-06 06:34]

[Anonymous] tprExcellent application. The only thing that annoys me is when I click on the button on the left-top to roll-up ditto, it rolls down if I left the mouse on it.

I found also an empty dir in appdata but nothing in the registry (except some MRU entries and MUIcache)

[Anonymous] mADmAxThis app has absolutely terrible performance. It thrashes the disc constantly. I finally tracked it down with process explorer and had to remove it! [2009-11-06 03:16]

All HTML tags will be removed from your comment. URLs (http, https, ftp) will be automatically detected and hyperlinked. I reserve the right to delete irrelevant, frivolous or offensive comments. For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
