[Anonymous] w_nightshadeI really like this app, but I was wondering how flexible the file mask capability is... can you pipe different masks like in a standard Windows dialog? [2007-08-07 07:02]

[Anonymous] NUNZLoaded the (single) exe file onto a clients (almost computer illiterate) machine.
Set up one profile for their backups.
It runs, and runs and runs and runs and .. I haven't heard back from the client since we installed it and did a follow up courtesy call. No problems, easy to use and simple to set up.
Awesome app.
Between Abakt (for multi profiles and differnt options) and OzSynch my backup issues are no longer an issue (for windows).

[Anonymous] kiwichickThis is a really nifty little backup program. Especially the source change option. The only problem I have with it is the log - it would be nice if the "Copy/delete file procedure failure" errors included the names of the relevant files. [2007-08-20 03:35]

[Anonymous] linuxampFrom kiwichick - "it would be nice if the "Copy/delete file procedure failure" errors included the names of the relevant files"

Use "log verbose" option.

[Anonymous] linuxampIn case anyone is interested, this program does not support synchronizing UTF directories. [2007-08-31 01:01]

[Anonymous] ThomasWith version 1.8.6.0 in the log I get "Error[009] : Copy file procedure failure" for directories, which nonetheless where copied. What about error codes? [2007-09-18 05:13]

[Anonymous] XPectThe bidirectional synchronisation is not working in the 2 ways. Despite the "bidirectional" term, the app do not detect files changes in the target folder and do not detect file deletion even on the source folder.
Anyway the real time sync is a good idea.

[Anonymous] BansheeI am using sync expert, how does this compare? [2007-09-19 03:48]

[Anonymous] kwEasy to use.
Do not support Asian characters such as Chinese, Japanese,..
It would be good if this problem can be solve in future upgrade.

[Anonymous] ZpyroProblems when using bi-directional sync and renaming a file ... it puts the origional named file back, as well as sending the new named file resulting in duplicate data [2007-10-17 09:43]

[Anonymous] MyselfWell the new version has some problems(talking about 2.1.1.1) well if you try to create entries from scratch and then try to synchronize data it does not work, some thing wrong with ini file, because on my usb I am using the old ini just updated the software it worked fine. [2007-12-18 22:53]

[Anonymous] darklight_trI have tried every version since 1.8.6.0 (including the newest 2.3.4.0) but they all get the "Error[009]: Copy file procedure failure" when a new directory or subdirectory is created in the source directory. Also, once this problem starts the program will sync constantly (about twice a second) until you either disable the sync or restart the program. I have tried every sync mode to no avail. It will start all over again if you create another directory. I would really like to use this program but until this bug is fixed I can't. For now I will continue to use Sync Expert 1.9. [2008-01-08 13:54]

[Anonymous] pandorAny idea what is the difference between config "Backup changes only" and "Backup changes + at Root" in Backup mode? [2008-01-17 11:13]

[Anonymous] anonThe download link provided links to an older version, 2.1.something, not 2.3.4 For the newest version, go to the ozsync website and download from there. [2008-01-28 13:49]

[Anonymous] tony666hmm, program tells me that 30-1-2008 is not a valid date.
and hangs.

and a little more information about the options in the readme file would be most welcome!!!

anyone know how to contact the author?
 [2008-01-30 02:41]

[Anonymous] Bo MellbergI am also having the valid date problem. In my case the date is written to the .ini-file as "13/02/2008", but the dates for the backup jobs are written as "2008/02/13$Ok".

Hope this helps debugging. Probably the program is relying on system date functions. Since I'm in Sweden, "13/02/2008" is not valid.
 [2008-02-13 06:09]

[Anonymous] Ameri-CAINI was having the valid date problem as well. It appears that it got messed up after doing multiple changes to a saved job to test the different sync methods. I'm not exactly sure when it failed, but the bold text at the bottom of the application screen became jarbled, and when I closed and re opened it, I got the error. I deleted the .ini file and the .log file and then restarted ozSync and recreated my sync jobs. This fixed the problem. [2008-02-20 20:40]

[Anonymous] PKGI like the application Version 2.3.4.0 - great. I am having only 2 issues that I would appreciate the developer to address 1)Would it be possible to specify how long to keep the backup directories and then remove directories older than that period e.g. 1 week. If you are making mutiple changes to a directory in one day, these directories can start filling Hard disk space 2)I use a date format DD/MM/YYYY based on my regional settings. Every now and then I get a message box stating that the date 09/04/2008 is not a valid date and I have to do force close of the applciation. [2008-04-09 07:19]

[Anonymous] RicosoftLab.comCongratulations to both Portable Freeware and ozSync for yor really great work.
I have tested ozSync thoroughly. It appears a good program for easy and fast backups (basically, syncronize contents of system's internal hard disk with external USB 2,5'' backup disks).
As an anti-virus researcher and freeware developer, I need a *reliable* backup tool for my own use and for friends and relatives.
I have found some bugs in ozSync, one important (out of memory error and crash when copying great number of files) and other minor bugs.
I also miss a little more transparency and some documentation about how the program works.
I have prepared a detailed M$-Word report with screen captures (screenshots), detailed bug explanations and suggested solutions for this bugs, but I CAN'T FIND THE AUTHOR'S EMAIL to send the results of my work, nor in the program or in the webpage (nebula1979...). Obiously, the document includes graphics and is too long to post here.
I assure the author If after a little program brush I install ozSync in real production environments of any of my clients, I make a donative for each instalation of the program.

[Anonymous] [BOT]FluffyI tried this app out since it showed up on my RSS and looked nice, but it seems DSynchronize still beats it since Dsync has the option to only copy newer files. Seems like a waste to copy every file even if the source file wasn't modified recently. [2008-05-21 14:19]

[Anonymous] Carlosis this useful for Ricosoftlab?

[Anonymous] Chris L. FranklinWhile I do like the program. It does have (for me anyways) a show stopper. It cann't be full started minimized! if you try to start it minimized the main window isn't visible BUT the taskbar "title"/button is. And it can be kinda hard to unminimize it unless you right click the OZsync Systry icon and choose "Show".

Plus the author doesn't seem to respond to bug reports/comments/etc.

[Anonymous] mosaicPC Tools' ThreatFire alerted that OZSYNC.EXE is high risk becuase it is logging keystrokes. Should I be concerned? Why OZSYNC is logging keystrokes? [2008-06-01 18:43]

[Anonymous] IanThis is very good freeware, but it lacks a help file. Although most of it is easy to use, I could not get the encryption feature to work, and would have appreciated some instructions in plain language. [2008-06-11 06:10]

[Anonymous] NightCapI agree with Lan, Some documentation would be super. Thinking you know how it works is ok, but knowing would be much better. Is there a wiki for such information? [2008-06-19 12:40]

[Anonymous] pepe0001I couldn't download it from this site so I got it direct from the developer (http://nebula1979.fortunecity.it/). Works so far, but sometimes I get an error even though it seems to have backed up everything correctly.
"'7/21/2008' is not a valid date."
 [2008-07-21 12:06]

[Anonymous] JaVeDSynchronize can be installed as a service so it "survives" reboots and runs without the need for someone to be logged on. Great tool ! [2008-10-20 09:16]

[Anonymous] Initrd.gzWhy does the download link take you to a JPEG image? [2008-10-28 19:07]

[Anonymous] alfieresometimes, with a large number of files, it complains "out of memory" and crashes ... [2008-11-10 02:30]

[Anonymous] Agus VidiI have tried many Sync Program. And finaly found the very best program in my opinion called "SmartSync Pro". I have tested and finally bought it. If ozSync can do the same or better, then i'll be impressed.

By the way, keep your hard work ozSync...
 [2008-11-28 03:41]

[Anonymous] zvenDoes anyone know, how to activate the encryption-mode? First i thought, in zip-mode it would be encrypted automatically. But it isn't :-( [2009-02-24 23:48]

[Anonymous] GmacriDon't working any link!!! [2009-09-06 13:42]

[Anonymous] EddieOzSync is a good program, useful for small to mid sized sync jobs. For those of you with larger jobs, you may have seen the 'Out of Memory' notice popup, stopping the job from finishing.
This was my experience too. A solution was to use Ram Booster, found here at Portable Freeware.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?q=rambooster
It did the trick. Setting EDIT > OPTIONS, checking Set Auto Optimization ON. A sync job which had been crashing, completed fully and successfully.
By the way, some of the errors are happening cause some files are either LOCKED (in use) or READ ONLY or in cases where many directories are in directories (nested), the file name is too long. This is a windows limitation.
Yes, the error reports would really be better if they reported only the errors and suggestions of how to fix them. One good program (not free); is GoodSync. It has the reports OzSync needs. Anyway, these notes are added in hopes to help those of you testing and using OzSync.

[Anonymous] RoseI use a program to file synchronization, which is called File Sync. Auto file and folder sync software (http://www.fileutilityblog.com/archives/232) is a necessary thing for everybody. That is why I use this program and haven't such problems. Did you use it? What are the differences among these programs? [2009-11-22 14:48]

[Anonymous] FidvoI use SyncExp for most of my backups, but ozSync in backup mode is perfect for documents. It protects against Oops moments where you overwrite something important but don't catch it until after the mistake has propagated to your backup(s).

ozSync makes an exact duplicate of the source folder so it's easy to restore a backup. However, it also copies into a zip file the old version of files you've changed. It creates a new zip file every time it backs up, which results in the preservation of every version of every file you edit. Even if you've edited a file by accident and didn't realize it until you've backed it up five times, you can always go back through the backups until you find the correct version.

Yes, you could get a similar result by simply backing up to a new folder each time, but ozSync eliminates the redundant files and therefore saves space.
 [2009-11-25 21:19]

[Anonymous] EddieOzSync has the best interface of all the 20+ sync apps I've tested. Both freeware and paid. All tested programs have lacking functions from one to another. OzSync is nearly perfect but will stall on larger jobs. See my upper review for details. OzSync does have a few bugs where it will cause a date notice popup at times. One fix may be to find the folders to sync and right click on properties and uncheck 'Read Only' if its checked.
In conclusion: After a long search of all many programs, the winner is: FreeFileSync Its found on this site at:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?q=freefilesync
Give it a try, it report well, will do very large sync jobs without problems. After checking, it really does sync files many other sync programs fail to sync and report.
 [2009-12-10 01:38]

[Anonymous] oziI have tried quite a lot of synchronizer programs. ozSync interface and overall functionality is best.

However I still did not chose ozSync because:

1- No unicode. I can not guarantee that my file names will be english all the time.
2- I could not find an email or a way to reach writer to this application, the website does not have it.

[Anonymous] dedea "denial" screen appeared when i tried to download the program.. practically this is what is linked to the download button - http://www.fortunecity.com/referercheck/denial.jpg [2010-01-18 12:22]

[Anonymous] ArbieI don't understand this. I run the ozsync.exe and the program opens up. I add a new sync item, which shows up properly. I populate all fields (source dir, and target dir, both of which exist and are not read-only). File mask is the default *.*. I select Zip Mode backup, with Manual trigger.

All seems fine - but when I press Synchronize, the program does nothing... It does report a 'backup' created in 10 msec or so, and the action appears in the log, but no backup files are actually created. I have now tried all the other backup modes, and almost every option checked and unchecked, and still nothing. This is under WinXP with NTFS drives (all internal). What could the problem be?
 [2010-01-29 23:09]

[Anonymous] ArbieIgnore previous comment. I didn't "Enable" the one and only task I had created (they are disabled by default...). Having done that, the app seems to work OK, and seems like just what I need. Thanks! [2010-01-29 23:14]

[Anonymous] KingMudkipThe download link is busted, but if you go to the website, you can still download it there with no issues. [2010-08-18 21:45]
