An excellent app imho. Lots of features but not bloated, and you can register the free version to enable encryption. The only app I've come across that not only imported my old Treepad files but did it in the correct sort order. Recommended. Now on ver 3.3.5 so the PFW listing is a little out of date :-)

Not a fan of this latest update. This one takes longer to load, and I found it crashed at times. The first version was simple, but worked flawlessly. Hopefully people can still find version 1.0.

Very slow due to it useless heavily graphical GUI, now all we wish that is there a Lite/Fast version available.

Everytime you add something, you wonder if this will slow it down or not... or you just have to add less :(

Seems slow to me too. Other solutions seem better (i.e., total text).

Further to what Saraceno said, no amount of googling lets me track down ver 1.0. Anyone know where it can be found?

Works like a charm for me!!!

I found it by searching for "treedbnotes 1.0" in google. But every link pointed to the softview (publisher) page which they have already updated to the latest/slow version. I did however, finally find it:
1)Although the following link is a japanese page, click on the first link called 'download 1'. http://treedbnotes.jp.brothersoft.com/download/
2)You will then have a long .exe file called '4672.2007....' Use universal extrator to extract this file into a temporary directory
3)You will have a couple of folders now, but all you need is the 'MAINDIR' directory, which includes the sub folder 'data' directory.
4)Delete all the other folders except for the MAINDIR and subfolder 'data'.
5)Final tip, when you're working with version 1.0, make sure you go to the menu 'file' then 'close', then 'file' then 'exit' to ensure your database and information is all saved properly.

I've scanned the above with FortiClient security, and it's all clean and free from viruses/spyware. The program is fantastic for writing 'to dos' and even whole documents which can be later exported as a .doc 'word document'. Enjoy. :)

This program looked promising when I looked at its screenshots and brief descriptions. However, once I got the program and installed it, I found it slow, and with a long learning curve. Many features and many things to learn. Yes, as a free program, it has lots to offer. No argument there, but any program, be it free or at a price, needs to be user friendly and not some engineering nightmare. This program needs to have more instructions. For instance, I closed the tree view by accident and ended up with only the note view. When I tried to restore the tree view, there was nowhere to click. Also, I tried to delete the intro note by the author, but there is no delete under the "File" or "Edit" sections. So, how do you delete stuff? Why should I have to read instructions for such a simple task?

Plain and simple, its too cumbersome and slow, and needs lots of tweaking instead of more features. Fix what you have first instead of adding and adding stuff which needs to be learned by the user. Oh, lets not forget putting a "Delete" feature.

Ok, now Im going to UNINSTALL the program....I wont need instructions for that.

Great application. I have version 4 and there's a useful 'trick' to make it portable.
First install it, then find 'Tools' - 'Copy Program Onto Flash Drive', then you can un-install it.
You can install to a folder or a pendrive. Version 3 may have the same option but you can get the free version of '4'.

If you register it, you can get some extra features.

I have searched their web site and cannot see how to register the free TreeDBNotes program ?

PS This brilliant program is everything that I could wish for in a notes tree program, and I was a Business/Systems Analyst for 20 years, developing software.

the opion to:

"First install it, then find 'Tools' - 'Copy Program Onto Flash Drive', then you can un-install it."

is still there for v4.31, seems like should be added as an option to the "how to extract" section since its much easier than moving and copying and deleting all those files and folders, fwiw.
