LH: Very nice! There are plenty of good looking skins available for the player on the website if you don't like the default. After a short time comparing, I'd say this player sounds as good as XMPlay (normally my 1st choice).
The only drawbacks that I can find are:
1. The playlist isn't skinned and looks a bit out of place when open (not really a major issue!).
2. It uses between 13-14Mb RAM depending on the skin chosen (compared to 2.3Mb for XMPlay) for some reason. Probably not a showstopper if you have plenty of RAM available.
Just my 2p worth :-) [2007-04-30 06:06]
Local: Is this portable?
Somehow between trying this program out once and now it has integrated itself into my windows rightclick context menu.
I made sure it wasn't associated with any files, anyone have any ideas?
I'm gonna scour my registry now, I don't think I'm gonna like what I find =P [2007-05-08 19:49]
Gilgamesh: Yeah, i got about 28 registry entries, including right click menu items, file associations, etc.
To clear, i renamed the Xion folder to Xion.bak, downloaded the installer, installed it to the original renamed folder, uninstalled, renamed Xion.bak to Xion and "JauntPE"lized it. [2008-02-19 04:53]
Cliff Cawley: Re: Registry Entries, there was a bug with the release which has now been fixed. It was the incorrect build which created registry entries. The download has since been fixed, so if you redownload after clearing your internet cache, you should notice that it no longer creates any registry entries at all. [2008-02-23 15:28]

CT: OOPS, something went wrong - apologies!
The file "Settings.dat" has a reference to:
Core BasePath="F:\Xion Audio Player"
...or does this 'Auto-Adjust'? (My Flash Drive is "F:", btw) [2008-03-19 15:50]
a: has its flaws, for one the hot keys are off, 'ctrl + alt + num 7' to pause, 'ctrl + alt + num 0' for play.. i would rather press just one key e.g. space for pause/play, enter for stop/play.. unfortunately i cannot find a way to set such a hotkey. a minor quirk the main interface is only fully skinned, the playlist, visuals isn't and it uses a bit of memory 9 + megs, some good things are the sound quality, and it being easily skinned. i'd say given a few more releases this will be something to look out for. Technomancer: This is 'THE' best media player that i've found yet. I'm so impressed with it that i've just made a donation.
I'd recommend it, in fact, I 'DO' Recommend it!. [2008-05-09 11:56]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
