Universal Share Downloader is a download manager that provides special support for downloading from hundreds of free file share servers, including RapidShare, MegaUpload etc. Unfortunately, you can't use it as a general purpose download manager for HTTP or FTP downloads. In addition, for apps of this nature, it is realistic to assume that code for various share servers will be broken from time to time due to changes on the servers.

Found the link by digging through the forum...have to try out all the various given update servers to find one that works...but program works as described...

Why it always popup with 2 error msg.: "rapidshareocr.dll not found", and "ifolder is for other version?"
When I finally found the raidshareocr.dll and download it, my TrendMicro report it contains virus and I can't get it in.....Could Anyone help?

The current "Universal Share Downloader 1.3.5.1" was now traced by Rapidshare. Downloads are not working anymore. You need to wait 15 minutes to have another download. Mr. Simba should do more mind-cracking-activity to catch-up the free downloading. Please help us back to the free download by using Universal Share Downloader. Thanks.

tested this app... and it does what it says it does!
has a nifty little update feature to upgrade its file sharing detection schema.
the only negative was finding the download link and navigating through the Russian forum in order to get it to work!

Try http://ineedfile.com to look for rapidshare files. I using it regularly and allways satisfied with the results
It's redesigned now and looks much more beter. More than 7 000 000 files in their database.
They offer search toolbars for FF and IE. They also offer search bar for your site.Enjoy.

I prefer JDownloader or FreeRapid. Take a look in both.

ATTENTION: this software comes bundled with a Trojan. Do not download and do not install. IOBit Security program (not an antivirus, but antimalware) just warned me about this and it was very specific (it was not a false positive). Use JDownloader instead.

Program updates itself (checks and asks to download updated plugins on start) so it is rarely out of sync with share servers.
It does not OCR those letter-numbers checks on some of sites (namely rapidshare.com where format is changed almost daily) and asks user to fill it. Except this - app is close to perfect. :)
