It's very very hard to crack the password anyway as long as it's random and long. My own password is all random and is 20 characters long so I'm sure at least it will take a very very very long time before they can crack it. However, if quantum computer comes along...... we would all be screwed.

@Mike: Clipboard vs. AutoType - both cracks involve a trojan running on you local machine (under your security access). If you have a trojan on your system, your screwed -- period. Also, just putting something on your clipboard doesn't give your trojan clipboard logger any info about what object that text is the password for (or even that it is a password).
@SomeGuy - The hacker would need both a very sophisticate password cracker -and- physical access to your entire password file. The random guy who finds your lost thumbdrive is unlikely to have the expertise (He's unlikely even to realize that the innoculous file on the thumb drive holds your passwords)

But isn't that a better alternative than a user who uses sticky notes? Secure password programs are a much better alternative.

Heres something bad about password managers, if an advanced password cracker cracked your master password, it would know all of your other passwords, then all of your accounts would be hacked.

Um, don't follow the example use-case:
"You can copy a password into the clipboard and paste it directly into your application...."

If you copy your password to the clipboard, it's immediately available to all programs running on your system. Writing a trojan to monitor clipboard content and stash it away for later retrieval is a trivial exercise...

I'd use the AutoType feature, which should be no less secure than typing it by hand. Your password can still be picked up by keyboard loggers, but the only way to avoid that is to scan your Windows system regularly for known trojans, or better yet, only install software that you can verify (or have verified for you), such as from trusted vendors and open source code.

While it is true that this is a windows only program I don't have any problems running it under linux with wine installed. Also there is a linux alternative that uses the same database as this one, called MyPasswordSafe. They both are pretty much the same program, they act just a tad different but nothing to noticable. With this program you only have to remember one password. That is the password to access Password Safe. You can not beat it.
