Blowfish Advanced CS v2.57

Checker on 15 Mar 2014

Blowfish Advanced CS is a easy to use encryption and disk wipe program, removing the extra step of typing in a password every time you view an encrypted file. Instead, the program caches the key and allows the dynamic viewing of encrypted files, renamed to a .BFA extension. To view, open them inside the Blowfish Advanced CS file manager or drag-and-drop them into the program window. Note that edits are not dynamically encrypted to the same location. Files must be decrypted and then edited.

The program includes a variety of security options including use of a key disk, a time-out for available decryption, multiple algorithms including Blowfish (default), AES, Twofish, Serpent, etc., multiple file / empty disk space shredding options, and more. Compression options are also available.

This is a good file encryption utility I been using for several years.

+ Multiple encryption algorithms
+ Unique "work with" feature where you type in decryption password, then bfacs launches association application. After you're done working with the file, bfacs re-encrypts the file automatically.
+ Can wipe files and free space.
+ Option to preserve "Date/Time Stamps"

Any advantage to using this vs. truecrypt?

@linuxamp: blowfish has another target. the main reason i'm using it: on the customer-pc's i usually dont have admin rights, and even if i have an truecrypt volume on my usb drive i cant work as easily with the files as it is possible with blowfish. one click and the password: the file is decrypted and i can work with it. another click: the file is encrypted again. very very good tool.

I was beginning to love this software til i read this.

Is anyone having problems with this program? I find it quite attractive, with it's no nonsense gui and it's portability.

I'd like to hear more about the software

I follow the link but the application has been discontinued.

use silverkey
it makes a stand alone exe with all options.
try to find v201
the new one has a back door for the gov.
201 is unbreakable.

I have been using Blowfish Advanced CS 2.57 with near perfect reliability for 4 years on e-mail files that I carry about on a Usb flash memory card. My only decryption failure was entirely my fault -- I forgot the passkey.

Fast and convenient encryption/decryption! Very nice utility.

Mixture 2013-06-09 23:00, the official website of this software, is not available any longer.

Mixture 2013-06-10 16:46 still has the correct portable version.

It appears that all links are dead? The only one I can get to download is not portable and wants to install.

Mixture 2015-02-25 23:54

I just tested both of the links I posted. They still work fine.

Mixture 2015-02-26 00:40 is a good link to the portable version.

Allen 2015-02-26 17:02

Hummm Got an HTTP 302 response at crawl time, Clicked on your link above!

Also the download at sourceforge gives the install version only

Still can't find any portable. Info above says "Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch bfacs.exe" can't find any "ZIP" to download. Thanks anyway I'll use Veracrypt.

Allen 2015-02-26 17:36

I did find a download link to the portable version:

Allen 2015-02-26 17:41

Sorry: although the above download link says portable it too wants you to install, not simply unzip an run!

Mixture 2015-02-26 22:31
is another good link to the portable version.
The address needs to include ALL the address clear to the .htm end.

Allen 2015-02-28 15:48

@Mixture; I just copied and pasted the link "" and I was able to download, where as before I was clicking the link. Thanks.
I quit using many years ago as I was always getting nasty's along with any download.
Thanks again.

Mixture 2015-03-01 15:21

You're welcome, Allen.

Current download link
seems to work fine here, launched from either WinXP or Win7 platforms.
Try again.
