Second thought ! Hum maybe third thought!
I am not really comfortable with Google Chrome that possibly is spying on its users, but I am not comfortable either with the "Unchrome" utility as well:
- The size of unchrome (614K) is impressive for a simple utility that replaces a string with zeros
- I loaded unchrome in a disassembler (Ida Pro, free version): impressive again: it seems to do more than it says on the face of it!
- It is true that unchrome comes clean at virustotal.com, but that is not enough ...
My conclusion: if you do not use Chrome, you don't need unchrome either!

@juvera - Use Chromium Portable instead - http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2169

shodan816: Add a batch file to kick off the program then delete the empty folders the progam leaves behind. Alternatively start the prog off inside a batch shell and change the %appdata% folder for that batch shell.

Nowhere near as functional/customizable as other browsers but still a very good secondary browser. Extremely lightweight when you consider how much disk space and memory Firefox, Chrome/= or Opera can take up.

SRWare Iron v27.0.1500.0 Updated

Checker on 26 May 2013

SRWare Iron is a privacy-enhanced web browser based on chromium, which is the open-source project behind Google Chrome. By default, Iron sends out less information compared to Chrome (e.g. creating a unique user ID or the submission of entries to Google to generate suggestions), which makes it potentially more private and secure in operation. Supports both official and unofficial themes and some Chrome extensions.

To block malicious ad servers, add adblock.ini to the "Iron" program folder.

Alternatively:

Category:

Please fix someone: "To block malicious ad servers, add adblock.ini to the "Iron" program folder"

Adblock.ini is in the Iron folder by default and Iron crashes w/o that file (at least on my XPProSP3 - yes I stil use XP :).

"Potanin (2010-12-27 23:04): If someone wants to temporarily disable adblock.ini, what's the procedure?
guinness (2010-12-29 12:05): Rename it!"

Renaming adblock.ini apparently will crash Iron. Clearing it is the only way I know to disable it.

Gemini Apollo Gomez on 2013-04-21 18:02

The link to adblock.ini is broken in the paragraph,
"To block malicious ad servers, add adblock.ini to the "Iron" program folder."
and gives a "404 Not Found" page as of 04/21/2012.
Extracting IronPortable.zip places an empty adblock.ini in the Iron folder.
On SRwares web site adblock.ini is at http://www.srware.net/downloads/adblock.ini but is dated 05/16/2012.
The SRwares forum at https://www.srware.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6540&start=10
provides several work-arounds, including links to files necessary to create a customized adblock.ini as follows.
